![]() The VoIP audio data packets are then sent over the net. The SIP ALG acts as an independent firmware and works in the client-side LAN gateway, helping users initiate SIP calls more seamlessly. It is mostly found in commercial routers to prevent firewall-related issues by inspecting VoIP data packets and modifying them. That's just short of two minutes for a reboot, which I still consider a bit long for an Edgemarc.SIP ALG stands for Session Initiation Protocol Application Layer Gateway. I found one running on 14.x and rebooted it: ping 70.xxx.xxx.46 My 4550s are on 13.something and they don't take any significant amount more time than any previous versions to boot.Įdit: Yeah, something is really up. Uh, something is up with your setup, dude. If possible, it might be worth routing the traffic from the remote phone to the PBX over a VPN just to make 1000% sure it's not a NAT issue. Have you been able to capture a call that fails (on both the PBX side, and the remote phone side)? Have you done any live testing with the carrier to get their opinion (call captures on their side)? It's hard to troubleshoot an issue like this without call captures. Generally at least, there is circumstances where the SIP signaling from the phone itself is straight proxied to the carrier, but that's very rare on a PBX, and usually a feature of a SIP proxy (or B2BUA). Generally when I hear issues like this (can call on-network numbers, but not off-network numbers) it's usually either a header or codec the terminating carrier doesn't like (making the assumption the originating carrier is delivering the call over SIP to the terminating carrier), but that would effect all calls that route through the PBX, not just calls from the remote phones. What kind of PBX is it? Does the onsite PBX proxy the media? I.e., when the remote phone makes a call, does the remote phone send it's media through the PBX before going to the carrier, or does the phone send it's media directly to the carrier? If the latter, it's possible that when you are making calls to off-network numbers, you are hitting some kind of SBC that's not allowing the traffic from that IP. More than likely it won't hurt anything, but I don't think that's going to fix it.Ĭan you confirm 100% the call from the remote phone is actually being sent out from the PBX? As other said, it's worth disabling ALG for testing. Generally, a NAT issue would effect ALL calls, not just some types. If true, this doesn't sound like a NAT issue. To make sure I'm understanding you right, calls from the remote phone, to other extensions on the PBX have two-way audio?Ĭalls to/from the remote phone to external numbers that are owned by the same carrier work?Ĭalls to/from the remote phone to external numbers that are NOT owned by the same carrier don't work? I'm going to make the assumption both the PBX and the remote phone are both behind (separate) NAT, is that correct?
